
In 2002, through the Learning Guarantee Programme, we took a close look at the enrolment, attendance and learning outcomes of 1,903 lower and higher primary schools in north-east Karnataka. The results further strengthened our focus on the pupil-teacher relationship as a key factor in guaranteeing promising classroom learning levels.
