Our Grants work emerges from our vision to contribute towards a more just, equitable, humane and sustainable society.
We support organisations of various sizes – from small and very early-stage ones to those that are large and mature. Our grant sizes vary from a few lakh rupees to a few tens of crores; the tenures of these grants are from 1-10 years, with most being between 3-4 years.
The work of our partner organisations spans a wide range of areas. We have grouped together some of these areas as ‘themes’. We are open to and continually adding new areas of work that make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
Examples of such vulnerable and disadvantaged people include persons with disabilities, women facing violence, adolescent girls and children at risk, the homeless and destitute elderly, manual scavengers and waste pickers, migrant and informal sector workers, farmers with marginal landholding, particularly vulnerable Adivasi groups and water-deficient communities.

Our work with our partners is divided into nine areas:
Through our grants, we support our partners working in the areas mentioned above to undertake a range of initiatives, from directly engaging with marginalised communities to helping improve delivery of public systems. We also recognise the role that CSOs play in the progress of a country.
We have also worked with multiple partners and state governments to develop a few specific programmes. Some of these are for:
- Improvement in child nutrition in a few districts in Odisha
- Yield and cost improvements for small and marginal farmers in Andhra Pradesh
- Justice for undertrials in Maharashtra
- Effectiveness of panchayat functioning in Jharkhand
- Yield and cost improvements for small and marginal farmers in Andhra Pradesh
We are setting up teams closer to our partners, which enables us to focus on certain geographies in addition to the states where we already have institutional presence. This includes Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Northeast India, Odisha and Telangana.
